Explore the possibilities of enhancing your farm with conservation practices to potentially reduce management costs. We will tour several locations where farm managers have applied best management practices to increase crop production and health without breaking the bank. This field day will begin at Diamondback Acres in Chelan, WA, a Salmon Safe certified orchard since 2019. Then, we will travel to the Hard Row to Hoe vineyard and tasting room in Manson, WA, the first Salmon Safe certified entity in Chelan County and LIVE certified sustainable wine.
The tour will cover Salmon Safe certification standards, agency programs available to implement practices, pollinator integration, and fire resiliency for farms. Q&A will occur throughout the tour. Speakers include staff members from Cascadia CD, Foster Creek CD, Salmon Safe, and USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS). The WSU Extension’s Nottingham Tree Fruit Entomology lab will provide a special talk about pollinator habitat. Space is limited, please RSVP here: https://form.jotform.com/221006815215141
